TitleThe Trip to Stowmarket
Played in memory of its composer Steve Dumpleton, a few days after his untimely death on May 2nd, 2021. Steve was a clarinet and melodeon player, a fine musician and ran very popular sessions and melodeon workshops at Whitby Folk Week and similar events. One of his particular musical interests was East Anglian traditional music, and the title of this tune refers to the Traditional Music Day that used to be held annually in Stowmarket, run by the East Anglian Traditional Music Trust. Steve was an enthusiastic player of the 1 row C melodeon and as this tune was written in C, I'm sure this is how it was intended to be played.
