| Title | Hamburgh Waltz |
From the 1827 manuscript of Joshua Gibbons, a 19th century papermaker in Tealby, Lincolnshire. We were contacted by someone from Tealby who saw two other Gibbons tunes that we had done and asked if there were any more, as he's involved in an event celebrating Gibbons' centenary in May 2026. We hadn't any others, but looked through the Village Music Project's transcription of the manuscript and found some 3 part arrangements. It turns out that the harmony and bass lines were'nt particularly well written, though they had one or two useful arrangement ideas. I rewrote the arrangement for this recording, but the original tune is untouched. | |
