For melodeon.net theme of the month July 2023 - tunes beginning with 'W'. I think I learned it first by ear in sessions, but it's in the Charlton Memorial Tune Book published by the Northumbrian Pipers Society, in the key of D as played here. There's an American version called "Emelia's Favorite" in B♭, and it's in the manuscripts of the Winder Family of Wyresdale, Lancashire, in F and titled "New Sheep Quick March". Our band often plays it for the Cumberland Square Eight, a dance needing 64 bars of music.
