TitleThe Miner's Lifeguard
The tune for this song started life as the Welsh hymn "Calon Lân" which went over to the Pennsylvanian coalfields with Welsh mining emigrants. An adaptation of the tune was used for the evangelical hymn "Life's Railway to Heaven" and that in turn was used to set a text of George Evans of Aberaman (South Wales) in 1951.
Mary has made small changes to make the song more gender-neutral and applicable to all workers.
Sung by Mary Humphreys, accompanying herself on English concertina
