| Title | Calum's Road |
By Donald Shaw, a founder member of Scottish band Capercaillie. The tune celebrates Calum Mcleod, who lived in an isolated area of the island of Raasay. When Calum was a young man, the 100 people who lived in his neighbourhood petitioned Inverness County Council for a motor road to connect them to the south of the island. The Council denied the request, and Calum spent 20 years building 2 miles of road, which in 1928 was finally surveyed, adopted and tarmacadamed by the council. Played for melodeon.net tune of the month November 2025. | |
