I first heard Percy Webb singing this on an old vinyl LP and thought it was an East Anglian song. More recently I have heard the Keane sisters singing it, so it may have Irish connections. Sue Cubbin from Essex, part of our band Chelmsford Assembly, re-introduced me to the song. The woman in my rendition of the song is no doormat.
