Title	The Willow Tree
A combination of May Bradley's "Willow Tree" collected in Shrewsbury by Fred Hamer with verses added from a version written down by Annie Dann in her notebook in the 1920s. Annie Dann was the eldest daughter of Charlotte Dann who sang "Lucy Wan", "The Hungry Army" and "The Cuckoo and the Nightingale" and other songs to song collector Ella Bull of Cottenham, Cambridgeshire in the early 1900s. Many thanks to Barry Dann, Charlotte's great grandson who has loaned me the notebook. Concertina arrangement and accompaniment by Anahata. This is the first upload featuring video on the page direct from my server, instead of via YouTube. So NO ADVERTS! Somewhat experimental at this point, and it remains to be seen whether I'll exceed monthly traffic limits once there are a few more added to this section of the site. The Video link is a version uploaded to Vimeo in 2015; the video on this page was done in November 2024.
