TitleMargaret's Waltz
Composed in 1959 by English collector Pat Shuldham-Shaw for Margaret Grant, representative in Devon of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, on the occasion of her retirement.
It travelled over to America, where it was popular in New England contra dances. Shetland fiddler Aly Bain heard it there and brought it back to Scotland, where it was for some time the most requested tune on Radio Scotland.
Usually played on fiddle in the key of A; here I'm playing it in G.
